Email is a service that brings with it a lot of benefits such as:
  • It allows people to send/receive information instantly, unlike other services such as sending letters, which requires time for the letter to be delivered
  • It’s a free service, so this increases the accessibility of the service, as more people will use it.
  • Can be used to communicate with people internationally
  • One can attach digital copies of files and images, so email can be used to share files and photos with those the owner wants to see the file. It is also possible to embed videos and pictures into emails, which is a very useful feature.
  • Can be sent at any time of the day, unlike some of the non-internet alternatives for email which are limited due to time restrictions, for example sending letters is time restricted as firstly it takes time for someone to take the letter from the letterbox/post office, then it has to be processed, then it is dispatched to other locations, before finally reaching its recipient.
  • All that’s needed is an internet connection, so this means that email is accessible in most parts of the world.
