Disadvantages of email

However, not everything can be perfect, and email is no exception – it too has some disadvantages [o1] to it such as:
  • It relies entirely on the internet; without internet access, email is unavailable. This means that important information may not be possible to dispatch on one end, so those who may be expecting this information will be left stranded, and will not receive this. Also if one needs to access an important email during the day, but has no internet access, they will be denied access to this
  • Some emails can have harmful files attached, such as viruses, which are never good to have.[o2]
  • Email services almost always come with spam (unwanted mail), and this can become annoying.
  • Phishing scams are common through email, and these can lead to details being stolen, which ultimately can cause problems for the user.
