Impact on social life (2)

Being not effected by crime and crime prevention as personal or professional lives, there are only a small amount of disadvantages regarding this, some of which I have listed and explained below.
  • Stereotypes are developed for certain groups of people as being criminals, be they have originated form the media or social media
              - Stereotypes are developed for all kinds of people, though a great deal of these stereotypes relate to crime. An example is how a group of hooded teenagers would be deemed as a group of yobs, and you can see this on the street as people would cross the street if they see such groups approaching. Others would include those such as a tanned skin male with a beard automatically being a terrorist, or a black person being a thief merely because of the colour of their skin. These stereotypes cause segregation between social groups and ultimately create hatred amongst societies.
  • Some people have used social media as a form of communication to organise attacks on people or on businesses 
             - The Birmingham riots of 2011 are an example of an incident where people had utilised social media sites to coordinate attacks on stores to break into and steal products from. People in today’s day and age abuse the services they have available to them to commit illegal activity and ruin society.
