It is also worth noting that economic causes of the digital divide are not solely because of how much a person has in their pocket – you could be a millionaire, but still be deprived of technology due to the economic state of the country in which you reside. An example of where this could occur is how in certain countries basic infrastructures for particular technologies to flourish are not readily available. These infrastructures could include things such as optical cables for fibre optic broadband which are not available in certain countries simply because the country does not have the necessary funds to implement these.
