We all want to be safe. In today’s world of good and evil, sadly superheroes are non-existent, so it’s the job of us mere humans to maintain order and keep people safe. Fortunately, technology has become an invaluable ally, and helps make the job of enforcing the law, as well as persecuting where necessary, a much less daunting task. With the help of technology, we are able to fight crime to an effective degree of excellence, using some rather state of the art equipment and technologies to achieve order and peace in our societies. The most basic of these forms is CCTV, but technology has advanced so much, that in the near future it will be possible for law enforcement to determine a full body image of a person using nothing more than a mere sample of hair. However, with advances of technology, crime has also begun to shift. More and more people partake in illegal activity online, be this through the trade of illegal items through online black markets (such as the infamous Silk Road), or through illegal downloading. With this shift and criminals attacking our virtual world, will technology still reign superior and save us helpless humans from the pandemic known as crime, or will we suffer in vain? Only time will tell.
