Impact on personal life (1)

Communication is a service which offers its users a great amount of benefits, and plays a major part in the lives of many people. Below, I have identified some of the advantages with using communication in today’s information age, and have further explained each of these, addressing how these make the service beneficial.
  • It ultimately allows for people to communicate no matter where they are situated in the world.
              - People are able to communicate through a number of ways, the mainstream methods being with mobile phones to send text messages or to have live conversations, as well as using the internet to send emails and instant messages or for initiating video and voice calls.
  • Book appointments and receive information without having to go anywhere
              - Users of communication services are able to make use of the service to organise events such as important meetings or appointments without having to do anything demanding (such as to go into an establishment and manually book something). Furthermore, information can be received from these establishments, such as results from blood tests, so ultimately, users do not have to go anywhere to obtain such information – it comes to them!
  • Relief for survivors of environmental disasters
              - Disasters such as earthquakes can separate people from their friends and family, leaving groups of people isolated. Social media is a major resource which can be used by victims of such disasters to relocate and seek aid. Similar outcomes are also achieved through the use of mobile telecoms also. This factor makes certain communication choices capable of saving lives as they can ultimately provide people with the necessary assistance when they need it the most. An example of this recently was in the news regarding hurricane sandy [2].
