Impact on personal life (1)

Crime and crime prevention has a great impact on one’s personal life. Below, I have listed some of the advantages of crime and crime prevention which impact one’s personal life.
  • With an increased focus on crime prevention, people feel safer where they live
              - Everyone has a place they can call home. A safe place where they can relax and shut out the rest of the world. Without the prevention of crime, such state of elysium would not be achievable due to the chaos which would constantly be glaring down upon us in our societies. Crime prevention allows for people to essentially feel safe where they live.
  • Regulations are put in place online to prevent fraud and identity theft
              - As a virtual generation, we tend to make a great deal of purchases online. These require for payment details to be submitted online to the retailer, which can cause a great deal of problems if placed in the wrong hands. Luckily however, a number of vital regulations are put in place to ensure that these details are kept secure and out of harm’s way. Be this through the encryption of the data or simply by discarding information after its use – customer information is always protected and the chances of fraud or identity theft remain low.
  • Fingerprints can be taken from crime scenes to identify who was present at the time of crime
              - Crime scene investigators are able to make use of something as small as indents on ones fingertips. These can be used to indicate if anyone with a past record with the police present at a crime scene. This can provide a perpetrator or a witness if the fingerprint obtained is a match. If not, the fingerprint can be retained and then later compared to any suspects related to the case. Ultimately this is an advantage when considering crime prevention as by identifying who is present at a crime scene, the job of bringing justice to the victim is made a whole load easier.
