Advantages of online shopping

Online shopping is a very useful service available to all those connected to the internet, as it offers users many things that most would consider beneficial. Some of these include:
  • Delivery options can be exceptionally fast, for example ordering groceries online can sometimes have delivery options of only 3 hours!
  • Users can browse multiple retailers effortlessly; customers just need to switch websites to look at different stores, instead of walking (or driving) to other stores. Also, with the ability of viewing multiple retailers online, we as the users can compare prices between different retailers and get the best price for the products we want.
  • Transactions can be completed within minutes through a number of ways such as using PayPal, or credit card transfers.
  • Some items may not be in stock in the high street stores, but online stocks are more likely to be available because online stocks tend to be reasonably larger than those in high street stores. Also, this means that some colours or sizes that may be sold out in high street stores are more likely to be in stock online.
  • Products are customizable by the customer, so for example the Converse (a large shoe retailer) website offer users a customisable experience by having a range of “blank shoes”, and customers have the ability to virtually edit these shoes by choosing colours and writing things on them before being offered the option to purchase the shoe they just created!
  • People with busy schedules may not have time to go out to purchase things such as clothes, appliances or groceries. Online shopping makes it so that these people can get these things around their busy schedules, as they can place orders for these items during any breaks that they may have (as it only takes a matter of minutes), and then get these items later on that day at their doorstep, or within the next few days.
